| 3-Year Anniversary Winter Ball |

As our first event of the New Year, we would like to welcome you to our 3-Year Anniversary Party on Friday night, the 6th of January! To celebrate this milestone, we’re pulling out all the stops and throwing a formal Anniversary Party that we’re calling our Winter Ball, complete with live music (the Jennelle Wax Orchestra), special professional performances, great food and wine, and a dance floor that simply screams to be danced on. The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. and the band won’t stop till 10:00 o’clock. If you have friends or family that you would like to invite, please feel free. We have invitaitons available at the front desk that you are welcome to take with you. We can’t wait to see you there! |

Twice a year at South Coast Dancesport, we put on a student Showcase choreographed by a world-class choreographer. This coming January's show is no exception. Former United States Professional American Smooth Champion and Dancing with the Stars professional Jonathan Roberts has been working with students since July on their routines for our Radio Hits! Showcase. Featuring instructors and students from South Coast Dancesport who will be performing to some of the biggest hits from the past 50 years, this professionally-produced show will take place Saturday, January 21st, 2012 at the Winifred Smith Theatre on the campus of the University of California in Irvine. Based on our usual high demand for tickets, we will have two performances of our Radio Hits! Showcase: a matinee and an evening. Tickets will go quickly and seating is limited, so please contact the studio directly to reserve your seats today! |
| California Open Dancesport Championships |

The California Open, organized by Debbie Kusumi, is practically in our back yard! This local event is a well-attended competition that is very student friendly and affords a great opportunity to watch dancing live. One of the benefits for ballroom dancers to living in Southern California is that there are a number of exceptional pro/am competitions within a short distance. And these are not just run-of-the-mill events, but professional, friendly and competitive. Held at the Irvine Marriott, the California Open is also the setting for instructor Ryan Crutcher's debut as a professional Smooth dancer. A large group from the studio will be attending the event on Thursday night (2/16) and cheering he and Katie Johnson on to success. |
| Spring Team Match |

Team Matches are held twice a year and are, essentially, one day mini-competitions. They involve not only our student body, but students and teachers from Southern California who are as passionate in their pursuit of progress and improvement in their dancing as we are. Students are divided up into different teams (with their teachers, of course), take to the floor to dance and are placed by a top level judge. Team Matches are high-spirited events with a significant amount of student recognition and a whole lot of fun! In addition to Top Student and Team awards, a Top Team Spirit award is always given out and is the most sought-after award of the day. We encourage you to get involved! Our Team Matches have become such a popular event, we have decided to grow outside of our local area and invite studios from all over California. Included in the next Team Match (date TBD) are studios from Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and San Diego. Please check back for details in the near future. |
